Days are getting shorter here in the Midwest as the sun is traveling further away from us to shine brighter on the opposite side of the globe. When the mornings and evenings get darker and days inevitably get chillier there’s an emotional craving of comfort that sets in and has us longing for sweaters, layers of texture and moody color schemes.
Just as last month we shared our excitement that the emotional comfort of traditional design is back in fashion, we’re finding that the six dramatic patterns and color schemes we’re sharing below pack a similar, trendy punch. Pulled for their dramatic aesthetic from our 50 Patterns | 50 Years collection in dark colorways – because classic black goes with almost anything. But even black needs to be tweaked sometimes and as you know, custom is our specialty.
All three Scott Group Studio brands are represented in the six moody patterns below. Read on to learn a little more about Aeon, Milanos, Boucle, Helos, Janus, and Octan and feel free to reach out to our sales team if you’d like to order one as is, or with any custom dramatic tweak you can dream up.
Shady greys and blacks have become essential hues that work in nearly every room, decor, and ambiance. Dark and somber tones bring about an inherent sense of intensity. Shadowing effects and silhouettes take center stage for these moody and mysterious motifs.
Helos, shown above, is originally a hand-tufted Hokanson design with a Greek Key and acanthus leaf adorned border and a concentric, textural pattern in the field.
Janus is a hand-tufted Hokanson design. Try this geometric pattern in a combination of colors to match your entire design – a deep moody green perhaps?
Boucle (above) and Milanos (below) are both textures from the PWV Signature Collection. Artistically crafted in Grand Rapids, Michigan, these versatile textures provide the perfect foundation for remarkable interiors and lend the ability to ground an overall design.
Arguably the most dramatic of the bunch, Aeon is an original hand-tufted Scott Group Custom Carpets pattern from our Lucent Collection and was inspired by constellations and beams of light. Tone down the contrast or mute the color scheme for a subtle design or keep this rug as is to make an artistic statement on the floor.
For a regal and geometric addition to your design, try Octan. This hand-tufted Hokanson pattern is two colors and looks stellar when you use the the same yarn for the cut and loop design elements, creating a striking monochromatic design.
